CURATORIAL COMMENT
Grand Central Art Galleries exhibited this painting in 1984 as a "study for 1915 Popular Magazine" with no indication of the source of the information. The image doesn't relate to Wyeth's Feb. 7, 1915 cover illustration (NCW 1875), described in Allen and Allen as "two hunters" (p. 269). The Knoedler's number is a receiving number, assigned for a service such as framing.
